Both "remove" and "extract" mean to take something out from something larger.

A few days before a trip, the organizer typically pays attention to weather forecasts, which predict what the weather will be like in the coming days. If the forecast say that it will be rainy, the organizer will likely cancel the trip. However, when the trip had already started, it turned out to be rainy, which was not what the forecast suggested. Then "Contrary to" is used to introduce opposition or disagreement.

Big dogs are not quite welcomed in parks because they may be dangerous to children, pets and plants. But now the government decides to make the restrictions less tight so big dogs can also enter parks. In other words, the restriction has been relaxed.

In this sentence, the verb "extract" becomes the past participle "extracted". The reason is not because it took place in the past. The past participle acts as a modifier that provides further information about "oil". What type of oil is it? Oil that is extracted, or taken out from corn.

(Some) gangsters tend to resolve problems and differences via violent means, for example, gunfights and street brawls. That's their ideology, the set of beliefs they uphold.

At this moment, human beings are not treated as equals. We are divided by race, gender, class, religion, and culture. And some people have privileges that only few share, while others live miserable lives. The president hopes for a change that will make the world better. He or she has a vision of a better world.
